If the release dates stick to their plan, two of her films would be clashing with each other at the box office on May 04. They are Subhash Ghai's GOOD BOY BAD BOY and Raj Kanwar's RAQEEB - RIVALS IN LOVE. Incidentally both the films feature her in pivotal roles, unlike her last films like BHAGAM BHAG and RISK that had her in blink-and-you-would-miss roles.
While GOOD BOY BAD BOY directed by Ashwini Chaudhary is a romantic campus comedy pairing her opposite Tusshar Kapoor, RAQEEB - RIVALS IN LOVE directed by debutant Anurag Singh features her as a center of attraction of Rahul Khanna and Jimmy Sheirgill with Sharman Joshi in an interesting role.

After Pepsi ad, Shahrukh and John team up again
After giving us a hilarious Pepsi ad, the newly discovered combo of SRK and John will be seen on the silver screen for yet another acclaimed director – Rajkumar Hirani’s next film. And believe it or not there is more to the already great combination. The film is based on the famous book “Five Point Someone: What Not to Do at IIT” by Chetan Bhagat.

Three hostelmates - Alok, Hari and Ryan get off to a bad start in IIT - they screw up the first class quiz. And while they try to make amends, things only get worse. It takes them a while to realize: If you try and screw with the IIT system, it comes back to double screw you. Before they know it, they are at the lowest echelons of IIT society. They have a five-point-something GPA out of ten, ranking near the end of their class. This GPA is a tattoo that will remain with them, and come in the way of anything else that matters - their friendship, their future, their love life. While the world expects IITians to conquer the world, these guys are struggling to survive. Will they make it? Do underperformers have a right to live? Can they show that they are not just a five-point-somebody but a five-point-someone?’
The film will go on floor in November and will release by summer next summer. Now what needs to know is who will play the third character!!! Hmmm…yet another off beat film with SRK and John for commercial element. I have lots of hopes on this one!!!
Amitabh Bachchan not very happy with RGV’s AAG
With Amitabh Bachchan not being happy about the final product of Sholay’s remake ‘Aag’, RGV’s next film Cobra has come to a stand still. As reported earlier, the Amitabh- Abhishek and Ajay Devgan starer Cobra was RGV’s next ambitious project with the Bachchan clan. After the disastrous response from both public and critics, this project had actually become a dream for RGV but Abhishek came to his rescue by suggesting that Cobra should now have either Saif Ali Khan or Salman Khan to make it interesting. And guess what? Papa Bachchan seems very hopeful about this idea and has again taken interest in reviving RGV’s Cobra.
But to come to think of it…will Salman ever be a part of Bachchan films or rather will Salman be able to do the film because of his imprisonment? And also if Saif or Salman have a slot will Ajay be given any role in the film? God looks like RGV is in real mess, if he convinces one the other will be annoyed…

Plenty of foreign language films have suddenly found an audience in India. Many embassies have been roping in their well known film makers to interact with the intellectually stimulated movie buff audience. The city has recently witnessed a surge in foreign film screenings and festivals. The most recent being a Russian Festival. Some film makers are of the likes of Goddard, Bergman, Makhmalbaf and Eisenstein; all of those who are considered to be extraordinary in their field. But what is it that charms the audience that they are ready for more variety and more content? What is making them move away, far away, from commercial Bollywood? Afternoon takes a peek into the minds of some of these movie buffs…
“I enjoy watching films that are not the typical masala flicks. There is so much debate that is created in the film. It is sad to see that only few enjoy such films because of the kind of issues they raise,” said Edna Sanghvi. The twenty year old said that she tries never to miss any of the fests that make their way into the city. “I rope in a couple of my friends who enjoy the films as much as I do. We try never to miss a single film. Sometimes, we aren’t able to make it, we make sure we rent a CD or DVD and watch the film in either one’s home.” Edna added that while she liked her share of Bollywood and Hollywood, Iranian films were what she enjoyed. “The Iranian films make use of a lot of music. They are slow moving but they deal with such complex issues in such delicate ways,” she said.
Binaya Jehangir, a foreign film buff, said, “I am glad to see the foreign film audience increasing so much. People are more open minded and are ready for new ideas. They are also ready to explore new patterns of film making. I was introduced to foreign films by my friend and the two of us rent CD’s almost every weekend. It is like a stress buster for us.” Binaya enjoys watching Eisenstein and other Russian films. “I loved Battleship Potempkin. It is so challenging. This film revolutionised film making!”
“I watch foreign films for the style of direction. I want to become a film maker sometime in the future and I hope to draw inspiration from either of the film makers who have already carved out a niche for themselves,” said Vinod Jain. The youngster loves his Bollywood films but feels that Satyajit Ray is brilliant. “I must have seen the Apu Trilogy many more times than I actually watched Sholay! I own all his films in the DVD format. Sometimes my father and I sit down to watch the films together. My sister is getting the feel of off-beat films too,” said Jain.
Nandini Basu feels the same about off-beat films and foreign language films. “They deal with issues that often go untouched by the mainstream films. Here is feminism, existentialism, Marxism; every topic stares at your face from the screen. It gives movie making and watching a whole new dimension. Anybody watching such films will be forced to read up about the issues and will thus stay abreast with these schools of thought. One must learn from anything they read or watch. It is such films that teach the audience something,” she said.
The film festivals sure have a huge audience in the metropolitan to cater to. The film enthusiasts keep growing every year and the quality of films coming in only gets better. Bollywood now, has much more competition than it had ever before!
Who will replace Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan?
Now that Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan are under the police eye, Bollywood is finding itself in a great jeopardy. Who can replace the two of the most countable actors? The question has shaken quiet a few. “They are cult figures and they have a certain equation with the audience which makes them indispensible,” says David Dhawan.
Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik roshan, the other countable stars have their hands full. So the only ones remaining are Amir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, John Abraham and Saif Ali Khan. Will they be able to deliver more number of quality acts than they usually do? So the hope remains on the recent comers Riteish Deshmukh, Sharman Joshi and the debutant Ranbir Kapoor and the likes. Let us see who grabs the show now that there are two great holes in the closely knit competition.
Chak De India enters Oscar Library!
Chak De for the team! The movie’s exceptional script by Jaideep Sahni will be at a very deserving place – no where else but the Oscar Library! “A copy of the screenplay has already reached the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, which hosts and hands out the Oscar Awards, to be a part of their script collection.”
The script will be kept at the Margaret Herrick Library and will be accessible only to film students, filmmakers, writers and actor. Now that is truly Chak De! India.
Shilpa Shetty to launch yoga DVD
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty is filming a yoga DVD and plans to market it overseas later this year, her publicist said Thursday.
The two-hour yoga DVD is currently being filmed by Shetty's production house in southern India's Kerala state, said Dale Bhagwagar, Shetty's spokesman.
"Shilpa practices yoga every day and she believes it should be a way of life for everyone," said Bhagwagar. "Yoga has become a fashion statement in the West, but Shilpa wants to educate people about the original form of yoga, the ashtanga yoga, with the right techniques and breathing exercises."
The well-known Indian actress underwent intensive training this month in preparation to ensure she perfected the "asanas" or postures for the DVD, which will initially be sold in Britain and Dubai.
"Shilpa will give details about how to stay trim and fit with a normal diet," said Bhagwagar. "She will talk about what foods to avoid and how she maintains her figure since she is known to have the best figure in Bollywood."
A popular actress in India, Shetty, 31, hit international headlines after winning the British reality show "Celebrity Big Brother." The show sparked a huge outcry in Britain and India after house mates made racist comments against her, forcing Channel 4 to apologize.
Later this year, Shetty will play the lead in a musical "Miss Bollywood" to open in Germany, followed by shows in Britain, the United States and Australia.
She has acted in more than 40 Bollywood movies since her 1993 debut.
